The Annual Beckman-Brown Lecture on Interdisciplinary Science honors Dr. Arnold O. Beckman, the founder of the Institute, and Dr. Theodore “Ted” Brown, the founding director. The series is funded by a gift from the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation.

Cognitive reserve

During Beckman's 30th anniversary celebration in October 2019, Yaakov Stern delivered the Beckman-Brown Lecture in Interdisciplinary Science. Stern, a professor of neuropsychology and chief of the Cognitivie Neuroscience Division at Columbia Univesrity, spoke on "Cognitive Reserve: An Evolving Concept."
